SkillsTech is local-first. Your source code stays on your machine. SkillsTech never uploads your source code and never uses it to train AI models. No login is required to edit.
What stays on your machine
- Your code and repositories, always.
- Ownership-loop output written under your repo's
.skillstech/folder (proof artifacts, handoff drafts). - App settings and state, stored locally by the app.
- The OpenThunder engine, when used, runs on your machine (localhost) and analyzes your repo locally. Cloud analysis is opt-in.
What leaves your machine, and only then
- Update checks: the app periodically asks GitHub whether a newer SkillsTech version exists. This sends no code, only a version request.
- Optional sign-in: if you choose to sign in for ecosystem features, that uses the shared Skills Tech identity. It is never required to edit code.
- Cloud features (opt-in): paid capabilities like cloud memory or deep analysis run in the Skills Tech ecosystem only when you explicitly enable them, and never train on your code.
- Early-access form: if you submit your email on skillstech.dev, we use it only to contact you about SkillsTech.
Telemetry
Product telemetry is disabled by default in the SkillsTech IDE.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We never upload your source code.
- We never use your code to train AI models.
- We do not require an account to edit code.
Third-party services
When you use a connected cloud service (for example OpenThunder Cloud or Skills Tech Talk), that service's own privacy policy applies.
